Knowing computer speed up techniques will help you to implement the best methods that can boost your computer performance. If your computer fails to run as fast as it used to be, then it is time stop doing work on it and carries out some routine maintenance. It actually doesn’t require you much technical knowledge to speed up computer performance, and some of the ways are easy and free to use.

Read through this article to learn how you can speed up computer right on your table.

Reasons for poor computer performance

Computer performance is affected by several reasons, some of them are the following:-

Windows registry corruption

Continuous freezing, unknown error messages, startup problems, pop up messages, program corruptions and slow loading are all related with computer registry system.

Registry database holds information about your computer hardware and software setting. This database may get corrupted when programs are not installed/uninstalled properly.

To repair this database either you try to fix it manually (very dangerous unless you know about it well) or using recommended registry cleaner.

Hard drive file fragmentation and lack of space

Cleaning your computer hard drive is the other computer speed up tip. The more the files are fragmented on your hard drive the more time it takes to open it. To reduce the loading time, the files must be consolidated and reside on a single space.

Disk Defragmenter and Disk Clean up are excellent tools which come with Windows operating system for these purposes.

Solutions for Slow Computer

Regular maintenance – Like any other machine computer requires regular maintenance and service. Don’t work on your computer until it stops!

Depending on the amount of time you spend on your computer you should run Disk cleanup and Disk defragmenter every month or once in every three months.

You should also update your anti-virus program every day or once a week. This will keep your computer away from new virus threats.

Install Registry Cleaner – this is a must tool not to forget. You will be guaranteed to keep your computer from registry related problems if you choose the best registry cleaner and install it on your computer. It is meant to scan, identify and repair any registry problem automatically.

Upgrade computer memory – having more memory on your computer is the other best method used to increase computer speed. Actually, it will cost you some money to add additional memory. But it surely improves your computer performance.

Upgrade Graphics card – computer graphics card controls what we see on a computer screen. Unlike the old ones, modern graphics adapter has both its own processor and memory which frees a processor to compute graphical data and work on other activities. This will increase computer performance.

Computer motherboard, processor and hard drive can be also replaced. There are computer shops online which store refurbished parts. However, you must consult your computer system guide before purchase.

Reinstall the Operating system – this is the last remedy in the list of computer speed up methods. Formatting and installing fresh copy of operating system will get your computer back to the performance it used to have when you first bought it.

Even upgrading your computer operating system will have an impact to speed up computer. However, you should check whether the computer parts are capable of operating with higher version of OS.

Conclusion

My computer runs slow
Tips to speed up a computer

My computer runs slow, what shall I do? If this is your question, take some time to read the following article to know how you can resolve your PC performance problems NOW. I said NOW because you can do it all without the help of PC technicians. Moreover, these are the best methods I often use to keep my computer operation to the maximum.

1- Clean my computer

The first step is to clean my computer. HOW? Windows programs come with built in cleaning tool Called Disk CleanUP, this tool identifies all unnecessary files from your hard drive and removes them safely. This will help to have more space on your hard drive.

2- Use Disk Defragmenter

Disk Defragmenter is an essential tool you should not overlook. This tool enables to consolidate a fragmented file so that it occupies a single memory space. A computer hard drive with lots of fragmented file takes more time to load than the defragmented hard drive.

3- Update your system program (Operating System)

For original operating system users, there is regular update that enhances PC capacity and fix errors and bugs. I found this method helpful as well when my computer runs slow.

4- Use Registry Cleaners

Registry cleaner helps to clean and keep Windows registry database. This database holds all information about your computer hardware and software configuration. Messed and corrupted database leads to slow computer performance unless you clean it using the best registry cleaner.

There are hundreds of them on the net. However, make sure it is the best and trusted cleaner. Since some cleaners intensify the problem rather than fixing the registry database.

You can download the best registry cleaner here.

5- Use Anti-virus program

It is possible that my computer runs slow because of viruses, worms, Trojans and other malicious codes. In order to prevent this, you should install anti-virus program. However, installing AV program only will not keep your computer from attack. You should update its virus definition daily, because everyday new threats are released.

6- Avoid Installing unnecessary programs

Do not install any program that comes on your hand. This helps to keep your computer organized, have clean registry database, and clean hard drive file structure. Remove any programs you think redundant and that can be installed back at any time.

Perfect Uninstaller is a better and easier way for you to completely uninstall any unneeded application that the standard Windows Add/Remove Program usually can't do. Get it here

7- Speed up Start up

This is the least method I implement when my computer runs slow. When a computer starts up several services start automatically with Windows. Some of the services are unnecessary and can be stopped to speed up the booting.

Type “MSCONFIG” on the search or Run box and press “Enter”, this will bring up the “System Configuration Utility” dialog box. Go to “Services” tab, and you can easily disable/Stop programs you do not want to start with Windows.

8- Upgrade memory

This is the only method that requires you to invest little money. For slow computer, adding additional memory will boost PC performance. You can buy memory chips at any store online once you decide the type, size and capacity of computer memory and that is compatible with your computer.

Conclusion

These are by far the most important methods I often use when my computer runs slow. Not all methods are equally important but helpful in time of need. Among these ways, installing registry cleaner and anti-virus program is essential whether your computer is running slow or not.

How to check my computer speed?

The two ways I often use to check my computer speed are using the application I install and other third party testing programs. Generally, computer performance determined by not only the high-end processor it is built with, it is also by the type of other computer components installed. However, checking the speed test starts with a processor.

In computer systems, a processor is the place where all computing activities are carried out. Through time processors technology is significantly changing, which makes it capable of processing huge data within a second. All the other components are there to facilitate the computing activities of the processor and display the outcome.

Therefore, the type, size and speed of other components have significant impact on a well performing processor as well. For example, even though, you have high-end processor but not enough memory space to work on, the processor will not function with all its capacity.

OK, let us see the methods I personally use to check my computer speed.

But first…

How to check your computer processor brand, type and speed?

You can easily check your computer processor brand, type, and speed. There are a number of ways to do this, but I will mention only three.

For Windows XP users, Start==>Control Panel==>System, Click on the General Tab, under Computer title you find your computer processor information.

For Windows vista and 7, Start==>Control Panel==> System and Maintenance ==>System, under System title you will find processor spec.

If you want to get detailed information about all parts of your computer, go to Start==>Accessories==>System tools==>System information or type “msinfo32” at search box in Windows vista and 7, Run box in Windows XP. There you have all statistics about your computer hardware.

Checking computer performance

Option one – Use the program we use

To check my computer speed, the first step I usually implement is installing an application program or using the existing program I often use. Computer applications are updated/upgraded very often; as a result, they demand hardware capacity.

If you think that you have a program that demands system resource, install it and see how the computer performs with this program.

Generally, recent applications are requiring a computer with at least good processor, graphics card and memory in order to run them. It is not possible to install these kinds of programs on old computer, either it will not install at all or function very slowly.

From this simple method, you can easily check your computer performance and see where it should be upgraded or identify a part that should be replaced.

Option Two – Use Third-Party Testing Programs

There are several application programs out there specifically designed for determining PC performance. These programs can easily scan and rank your PC speed. Most of these programs measure processors speed. Particularly, these programs are beneficial when we want to upgrade our computer or build our own custom computer from scratch.

These processor benchmark programs include: BAPCO SYSmark and iCOMP (Intel processor benchmark).

Conclusion

Actually, I check my computer speed for personal knowledge and experiment. In your case, you may have an interest to know how fast your computer speed is. In both situations, the above methods will help to determined PC speed.

Building your own computer

If the basics are understood well, building your own computer would be an interesting skill which enables you to acquire a lot of knowledge about computer systems. We may think that this is the area left for pc technicians. However, despite the complication related with computer systems, it takes a few easy steps to build a computer. Build a gaming computer under 1000$

In this article we will try to see the basics of building a custom computer.

Well, Can anyone build a computer? Is it possible to do it without the help of pc experts? Yes, it is achievable to build a computer even without a guide. Regarding guides, there are several guides available online to assist you on the task.

This is not to repeat what was already said in those guides. But, I want to throw some notes not mentioned in the guides. Actually, the manuals are packed with more of technical aspects than the basics. The guides won’t benefit us unless we do have enough understanding about each computer part.

Steps of Building a computer

As a beginner, to build best system:-

The first requirement is to grasp the basics of computer parts and how each component functions together. This is very important.

You must equip yourself with the basic knowledge about operating system and applications.

Decide the task you are going to do with it - Are you building for gaming, for design or for casual usage or just for experiment. This is because the components you choose for gaming and normal usage is different in capacity and performance. Gaming computer costs you more.

Selecting the right part among several variants of a single component is the other requirement. You must ensure that each component you choose is compatible with the other. It is expensive and waste of resource to purchase high-end components just for browsing, word processing and other low demand duty.
